Tennis Playground – Kompleks Sukan PKNS

Kompleks Sukan PKNS is located at Kelana Jaya, Selangor. It is located nearby a more famous Tennis facility which is the MBPJ tennis courts. The tennis courts here are open for public booking, for further inquiries please call 017-682 0620 (Nizam). The courts here are located inside the PKNS sports complex & there is a football field & badminton hall as well. There are shower rooms but all of the shower heads has been stolen (LoL).

The night lighting here is pretty good & is on par with the courts at Duta tennis centre. Out of 5 tennis courts here, 2 are quite new & in nice condition, the other 3 are very rough & dirty. Your balls would turn black pretty fast if you were to play at the other 3 courts so make so you book the 2 nice ones. I would rate the 2 nice courts & the night lighting here for 10/10 if not for the problems below:

    1. The location of the courts are totally wrong for tennis. It is sitting right beside the busy LDP highway & rather close to the roadside as well. The air quality here are polluted by the heavy traffic & because the highway are elevated above the courts, dust particles would land & accumalate on the courts & make them dirty through time. A lot of times during play, some car with loud exhaust would blast by & caused a lot of sound interference.

    2. There are lotsa holes on the fencing of the 2 nice courts & on some higher part of the fencing on the side court, the fence wires are torn & you would experience a lot of balls flying out of the court if you were to use that court.

The plus point on the courts here are that they’re easier to book & a lot less hassle than booking the MBPJ courts. To reach the courts here if you’re from KL, just drive to federal highway & go up the penang bridge after guiness & turn right into LDP. Go straight & pass Western Digital factory on your left & take the first left turn after you come down the Western Digital flyover. After the left turn, take the first right near the houses/field & you’re there already.

  • Tennis Playground – Kelana Jaya MBPJ courts

Tennis Playground – Kelana Jaya MBPJ courts

This place is one of MBPJ’s finest tennis facility located at Kelana Jaya sports centre, very near to the MAS Training Centre. Its a public court with 8 tennis courts & 2 practice wall. One of the court is an indoor one as you can see from the pictures. It is a very busy place during the weekends as there are a lot of match plays & mini tournaments here. You can see a lot of good juniors playing here. I would advice against playing here from 9am to 4.30pm as this place is so open & hot but if you like the sun, you can go ahead.

I would rate the courts here 8/10. If the night lighting is as good as the Jalan Duta courts, I would have given this place a 9/10. During the photo shoot, they were repairing two courts… a good sign that the management is taking care of the facilities here. The only problem with the courts here are the court booking hassle. You cant book courts at the playing venue here. The booking office is at PJ Civic Centre along Jalan Yong Shook Lin which is like 10km away. You can get more info at their website & address below:

  • Tennis Playground – Bangsar Sports Complex

Tennis Playground – Bangsar Sports Complex

This is a very well known public court among tennis players in the Klang Valley. It is run by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, further enquiry & information on rental & such can be obtain from their website here. There are 4 courts here & they look well used but still very playable. I dont know about the night lighting condition as I havent played at night before here.

It is easy to find this complex, you need to head towards the Brabus showroom in front of Bangsar Village & continue up & make a left into Jalan Terasek & go straight till you find Jalan Terasek 3 & you’re there. There are various other sporting facilities here like futsal, swimming pool, badminton, squash, etc. This place are surrounded by houses & although you can see lotsa trees in the pictures, the courts are not shaded at all by them, so be ready to become a roast pig if you were to play anytime between 8am to 5pm.

Overall I would rate this place 7/10. Be aware that everyone here look very intimidating & most of them look like Nadal or Federer.

  • Tennis Playground – FRIM tennis court

Tennis Playground – FRIM tennis court

This is a pair of very nice public tennis courts located inside the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) in Kepong. It is less than 30 mins drive from KL city center to FRIM. Aside from tennis, there are other facilities/activites that you can do at FRIM like badminton, hiking, mountain biking on it’s trail, football, etc. The surrounding are full of trees & the oxygen quality here is pretty nice because of the surrounding forest. You can call up their office for bookings at 03-6279 7561. I would rate the courts here 8/10, it would be 9/10 if they had better lighting. My pictures doesnt do justice here cos of my cheap handphone camera & it was just after a shower, but this pair of courts are really beautiful & still very new by the time of this posting.

  • Tennis Playground – Sri Tiara Condominium

Tennis Playground – Sri Tiara Condominium

Sri Tiara Condominium is a service apartment located at Taman Seputeh, Kuala Lumpur. It is 10 minutes away from KL Sentral & Mid Valley. I love the tennis courts surface here but the night lighting is not good. I would rate the courts 8.5/10. To visitors who like to have a cheaper alternative than staying in hotels, this place would be a good choice

  • Tennis Playground – Angkasa Impian 2, Bukit Bintang

Tennis Playground – Angkasa Impian 2, Bukit Bintang

This is a private condominium court in the heart of the golden triangle in Bukit Bintang. It is located at Bukit Ceylon, just a row behind the Changkat Bukit Bintang nightlife area & its a really good place to stay in if you’re visiting Kuala Lumpur because all the nightlife & shopping areas are like 5-10 minutes away by foot.

I would rate this court 7 out of 10. It’s a pretty rough hard court. The lights at night is pretty bad. The condominium is called Angkasa Impian 2 & it comes with a pool, gymnasium, ping-pong tables, children’s playground, squash court & mini market. The condo is about 50% occupied so good news for expatriates/visitors who are interested in staying here.

  • Tennis Playground – The Club, Bukit Utama

Tennis Playground – The Club, Bukit Utama

The Club is a members only club located near the Curve in Damansara and it has 3 nice indoor artificial grass courts. Apart from the tennis courts, it has various other sports facilities like badminton, squash, golf, swimming pool, etc. & if you are a One Utama’s One card holder, you can book the tennis court for Rm26 per hour even if you are not a member. So if you want to play in this club but don’t want to be a member, just go to the One Utama Shopping Centre & get yourself a One Utama’s One Card for like rm10 if I am not wrong and then you can proceed to this club & book for a court. They also have a very nice place to eat & chill out downstairs.
