Tennis Playground – Kiaramas Cendana Condo

This playground belongs to a private condominium located at Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur. There are many high rise apartments & condo in Bukit Kiara & a lot of them has tennis courts. There are two hard courts here, they are located above the condo’s carpark & the surrounding are full of greeneries as you can see from the picture. The court side facilities are nice, with a barbecue area & a shade rest area with fans & lights. Its a good place to have a nice tennis gathering. The court blue paint seems to become powdery & are coming out of the surface. I find this problem consistent with most tennis courts found on medium to high cost condos around the city. Maybe they’re made by the same court construction company? I would rate the courts here 8 out of 10 at the time of this posting. But one court has a more faded blue than the other, maybe they’re surfaced at a different time. I dont know about the night lighting condition as I havent been here during the night yet. The official site of this condo is at kiaramascendanacondo.com Enjoy the pictures below:

  • Tennis Playground – UKM Bangi

    Tennis Playground – UKM Bangi

This is another university playground which we covered recently. These courts belong to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia located in Bangi, Selangor. There are 5 courts here, most of which are in 7/10 condition & below. The surroundings at this sports area of the university is nice & full of greeneries. The courts here are for UKM’s students & staffs only so for most of us, the posting & pictures here are just for us to see & admire =).

  • Tennis Playground – Kompleks Sukan Datuk Keramat

Tennis Playground – Kompleks Sukan Datuk Keramat

The Datuk Keramat sports complex is located at Jalan Jelatek which is along Jalan Ampang. This complex is less than 7 minutes drive from KLCC if the traffic is free flowing. Aside from 2 usable tennis courts, there are also indoor badminton courts. This complex is owned by DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall) & it is for public rental.

I dont know about the night lighting here as I havent been here during night time. There are actually 3 tennis courts here but only 2 of them are usable. The courts here are badly located because it is next to a busy road. This place is filled with noise & dust pollution all the time. Accessibility is good because there is a LRT station right across the road & it is easy to find this place if you’re coming from Jalan Ampang via KLCC. The court surface is fine on both courts buy the lines are faded. I would rate the courts here 7/10 but since it is next to a busy road & you can actually hit balls over the fence onto traffic, I think a rating of 3/10 would be fair.

To book the courts, you can call 03-4251 4966 . Check out the pictures of the courts below:

  • Tennis Playground – University of Nottingham

Tennis Playground – University of Nottingham

Here’s a review of a pair of tennis courts located at University of Nottingham, Semenyih, Kajang, Selangor. The courts here are for students only & it is located at the university’s sports center. I’ve been to many institution of higher learning in Klang Valley & most of them has tennis courts but the courts here at Nottingham are definitely not the best.

The surface paint here are almost white washed by the sun & it has a very pale green look now. Its kinda hard to look at the lines as the color of the court is almost white. Court surface condition aside from the color is fine. Lights are ok but can be better with more lights in between of both courts & proper height & angle tuning. One thing I like about the courts here are the ample space from baseline to the back fence. It will be a torture to play on these courts on a sunny day as there a no tree shade & the location of the courts are on top of a small hill…. sorta like a frying pan on a stove.I would rate the courts here 6.5/10.

One thing to learn from building nice tennis courts is never paint the whole tennis playing area with the same color like the ones here in Nottingam University. As time goes by, color will fade off especially if it is an outdoor court & with a single color to the whole area, sooner or later it will pale out & the white lines wont be contrasting anymore for the eyes to see. Always go for 2 color court like the ones at the National tennis center in Jalan Duta which is brick red & dark green because even if the lines fade off, your eyes can still see the baseline distance because of the bi-color court.

  • Tennis Playground – SLGCC

    Tennis Playground – SLGCC

Sungai Long Golf & Country Club is located at Cheras, Kajang which is around 30 mins drive from Kuala Lumpur city centre. This club is more well known for it’s Jack Nicklaus designed 18 hole golf course. There are two tennis courts here, one newly resurfaced 5 months ago from the time of this posting. The new court is perfect, I would rate it 10 out of 10 if not for the very distracting pool area & golf course on both ends of the tennis court fencing. If they were to cover the fencing with those Green cloth mesh then it would be fine. There are a row of houses right next to the court area and the tennis courts are next to a basketball court which is not good if there are people playing basketball as there are no fencing between them.

I dont know about the night lighting as I’ve only been here on daytime. Overall I would rate the court here 9 out of 10. This would be a great club to join if you’re into golfing as well. There are other normal club facilities like badminton, gym, squash & swimming pool. The club’s website is at www.slgcc.com.my & you can reach the club with the map below:

    Tennis Playground – Titiwangsa Reloaded!

It has been nearly a year since the Titiwangsa courts in KL has been resurfaced & this place has been upgraded since we last featured it here on tennis.my. Here are some latest pictures from this wonderful public court which is in the middle of Kuala Lumpur. The courts here are very nice now but try not to book the 4 courts beside the road as they are a bit dusty. For direction to this place & other information regarding the courts, please click here

  • Tennis Playground – PJ Club

    Tennis Playground – PJ Club

Here’s a pair of very nice private club courts located at Dataran PJ, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Unfortunately it is for members of PJ Club only. It is located right next to the football field at dataran PJ and is close to the famous 24 hours A&W restaurant in front of Amcorp mall (check the green arrow on the google map above). The location of this place are quite well known to folks in Petaling Jaya & the courts here are surrounded by some nice greeneries like the football field & some trees.

Night lighting is quite ok. The courts has lotsa chairs & benches. Court, net post & net quality is nice & good. I would rate these courts here 8 out of 10. It would be nicer if the fencing is wider because it can get tight on doubles especially if a short angle ball is hit towards the doubles alley. These courts would have been great if they’re public courts as the location is quite nice with a LRT station nearby. Anyway, for a public court that is closeby, you can check out Astaka which is run by MBPJ. It will be featured here on tennis.my in the future.
