    BMW Malaysian Open 2013 – Action Beyond Tennis at The Royal Selangor Golf Club

    Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 21st February 2013 – The much anticipated third (3rd) edition of the BMW Malaysian Open 2013 is back with a fun filled event for everyone. Tennis enthusiasts are in for a treat with the appearance of former World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki, Slovakian tennis star, Daniela Hantuchová, Japan’s top player, Ayumi Morita and returning to defend her title, Hsieh Su-wei. The region’s premier women’s tennis tournament will see a star studded line-up of players battle it out to win the prize purse of USD 235,000.

    The BMW Malaysian Open will take place from 25th February till 3rd of March 2013 for the first time at the prestigious Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC). With KLCC as a backdrop, the spacious RSGC offers a picturesque view for both players and fans in this open-air tournament right in the heart of the city.

    The fun begins before the tournament from the 21st – 24th of February at Esplanade KLCC with a mini tennis event for the public. Starting from 10.00am to 09.00pm daily, the public will catch a glimpse of the actual tournament with a ‘mini’ game of tennis while enjoying the various activities, promotions and exhibitions at Esplanade KLCC. Lucky fans will stand a chance to meet and greet with the international tennis players!

    In addition, spectators and tennis fans are in for a treat at the Royal Selangor Golf Club when they come by to watch their favourite stars in action. Some of the activities planned are listed below.

    Casey Dellacqua, Chang Kai-chen and Misaki Doi return to the BMW Malaysian Open

    Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, February 21st 2013 Australia’s Casey Dellacqua,  Taiwan’s Chang Kai-chen and Japan’s Misaki Doi confirmed entries to the BMW Malaysian Open 2013. These returning players will face tough competition battling alongside, former World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki, defending champion, Hsieh Su-wei and Japan’s top player, Ayumi Morita at the third (3rd) installment of the BMW Malaysian Open.

    The fully sanctioned tournament by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) will be held at the Royal Selangor Golf Club for the first time. 32 players and 16 teams will compete for the singles and doubles title and a prize purse of USD 235,000. The tournament will also host a qualifier for 24 players leading into the Main Draw.

    Australia’s Casey Dellacqua, made an appearance at the BMW Malaysian Open last year and is back again to put on a good fight to win the title. Dellacqua started the year with an injury but made a come back in the 2013 Australian Open where she partnered with fellow Australian teen-player, Ashleigh Barty who will also be making her debut performance at the Malaysian Open. Barty and Dellacqua are the first Australians to make it to the women’s doubles final at the Australian open since 1977. Joining the Australian line up is also Olivia Rogowska, whose been climbing the WTA ranks.

    Back again at the tournament is Taiwanese player, Chang Kai-chen who took home the title as the winner of the doubles last year. Chan Yung-jan will also be representing Chinese Taipei alongside Hsieh Su-wei who will be attempting to bag the title again as the BMW Malaysian Open champion.

    Following the announcement of the highest ranked Japanese player, Ayumi Morita; the tournament will also see two more young Japanese players join the fray. Misaki Doi and Kurumi Nara have both confirmed their participation and are two players to look out for with their fast improving ranks under the WTA.

    Duan Ying-Ying, with an impressive record of winning 8 International Federation Tennis titles is another player to watchout for at the BMW Malaysian Open. Joining her is China’s, Yang Zi who took home two Grand Slam doubles titles, the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2006. In addition, Zhang Shuai; the fourth highest ranked women’s singles player from China also be making an appearance at the BMW Malaysian Open 2013.

    Aslina Chua, S.Theiviya and Yus Syazlin Nabila will represent Malaysia under the Malaysian wild card entries.

    The BMW Malaysian Open will be held at the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) from 25th February to 3rd March 2013. The tournament is promoted and organized by LTAM and Carbon Worldwide Sdn Bhd with BMW as the title sponsor and sanctioned by the Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM).

    Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 14th February 2013 – The BMW Malaysian Open 2013 today confirmed the participation of Slovakian tennis star, Daniela Hantuchová, and Japan’s top player Ayumi Morita for the fourth (4th) edition of the Malaysian Open. Alongside former world no.1 Caroline Wozniacki and Defending Champion Hsieh Su-Wei, this stunning line-up of players will be joining a host of other female contenders at the Royal Selangor Golf Club from 25th February to 3rd March 2013.

    The fully sanctioned tournament by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) will see 32 players and 16 teams compete for the singles and doubles title and a prize purse of USD 235,000. The tournament will also host a qualifier for 24 players leading into the Main Draw.

    The Former world No.5 and the winner of four Grand Slam mixed doubles titles, Daniela Hantuchová also took home the winning title of the Pattaya Open in 2011 and 2012. The 30-year-old Slovakian beauty will be making her debut appearance at the BMW Malaysian Open 2013.

    The highest ranked Japanese player in the world, Ayumi Morita is making a come back to the BMW Malaysian Open for the second time. 22-year-old Morita is one of the most successful Fed Cup players of recent times with a 14–0 match win record for Japan.

    Commenting on the players competing in this year’s tournament, Dr. Gerhard Pils, Chief Executive Officer, BMW Group Malaysia said, “We are pleased to welcome Daniela Hantuchová and Ayumi Morita to the BMW Malaysian Open 2013.     Joining the strong line-up are Serbia’s young star, Bojana Jovanovski and Thai WTA veteran, Tamarine Tanasugarn, hoping to make their comeback this year. Australian up and coming star, Ashleigh Barty, will also be making an appearance at the BMW Malaysian Open for the first time. This young sixteen-year-old rising tennis star achieved her biggest victory of her career at the Hopman Cup 2013, defeating former French Open champion Francesca Schiavone and is one player to look out for.

    Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 29th January 2013 – The BMW Malaysian Open returns once again to Kuala Lumpur from 25th February to 3rd March, 2013 for the first time at the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC). The competitive women’s sport will see some of the world’s top players such as Caroline Wozniacki, Defending Champion Hsieh Su-wei and many others from the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association), compete for a prize purse of US$235,000 and valuable World Ranking Points.

    The tournament format will include both singles and doubles competition and will see 16 doubles teams and 32 singles players competing in a knockout competition over the course of seven days.
