Casey Dellacqua, Chang Kai-chen and Misaki Doi return to the BMW Malaysian Open

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, February 21st 2013 Australia’s Casey Dellacqua,  Taiwan’s Chang Kai-chen and Japan’s Misaki Doi confirmed entries to the BMW Malaysian Open 2013. These returning players will face tough competition battling alongside, former World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki, defending champion, Hsieh Su-wei and Japan’s top player, Ayumi Morita at the third (3rd) installment of the BMW Malaysian Open.

The fully sanctioned tournament by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) will be held at the Royal Selangor Golf Club for the first time. 32 players and 16 teams will compete for the singles and doubles title and a prize purse of USD 235,000. The tournament will also host a qualifier for 24 players leading into the Main Draw.

Australia’s Casey Dellacqua, made an appearance at the BMW Malaysian Open last year and is back again to put on a good fight to win the title. Dellacqua started the year with an injury but made a come back in the 2013 Australian Open where she partnered with fellow Australian teen-player, Ashleigh Barty who will also be making her debut performance at the Malaysian Open. Barty and Dellacqua are the first Australians to make it to the women’s doubles final at the Australian open since 1977. Joining the Australian line up is also Olivia Rogowska, whose been climbing the WTA ranks.

Back again at the tournament is Taiwanese player, Chang Kai-chen who took home the title as the winner of the doubles last year. Chan Yung-jan will also be representing Chinese Taipei alongside Hsieh Su-wei who will be attempting to bag the title again as the BMW Malaysian Open champion.

Following the announcement of the highest ranked Japanese player, Ayumi Morita; the tournament will also see two more young Japanese players join the fray. Misaki Doi and Kurumi Nara have both confirmed their participation and are two players to look out for with their fast improving ranks under the WTA.

Duan Ying-Ying, with an impressive record of winning 8 International Federation Tennis titles is another player to watchout for at the BMW Malaysian Open. Joining her is China’s, Yang Zi who took home two Grand Slam doubles titles, the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2006. In addition, Zhang Shuai; the fourth highest ranked women’s singles player from China also be making an appearance at the BMW Malaysian Open 2013.

Aslina Chua, S.Theiviya and Yus Syazlin Nabila will represent Malaysia under the Malaysian wild card entries.

The BMW Malaysian Open will be held at the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) from 25th February to 3rd March 2013. The tournament is promoted and organized by LTAM and Carbon Worldwide Sdn Bhd with BMW as the title sponsor and sanctioned by the Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM).
