    1. The BMW Malaysian Open 2015 is in its sixth year since its inception in 2010.

    2. BMW Malaysia has been its title sponsor for the last five years.

    3. This year the tournament takes place from Mon 2 to Sun 8 March 2015.

    4. Qualifying matches are on Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1March.

    5. The tournament will be held at the tennis courts of the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) in Kuala Lumpur.

    6. The tournament will be played out on three match courts(including one centre court).

    7. The BMW Malaysian Open is an international level women’s tennis tournament sanctioned by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and the Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM).

    8. Prize money: USD250,000.00

    9. Tournament play:
    a. Singles – 32 players
    b. Doubles – 32 players (16 pairs)

    10. Tournament format: Knockout

    11. Surface: Hard-court / Outdoor

    12. Last year, close to 12,000 fans attended the event in Kuala Lumpur.

    13. The finals saw top seed Slovak, Dominika Cibulkova and seventh seed Croatian, Donna Vekic, face off in the singles final, with Donna walking away with the title.

    14. The doubles was won by Hungary’s Timea Babos and Taiwan’s Chan Hao Ching who defeated fourth seed ZhengSaisai of China and Taiwan’s Chan Yung Jan.

    15. The BMW Malaysian Open 2015 is supported by:

    Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 13th August 2014 – Muhammad Ashaari Zainal;Jawairiah Nordin; Vietnamese pairs Pham Huu Vinh and Le Quoc Khanh (Men’s Doubles) and Tran Tam Hoo and Huynh Khanh (Women’s Doubles); emerged as the winners of the BMW Malaysian National Circult 2014 – Leg Four (4) that ended here today.

    The five-day circuit started on 9th August 2014 at the Kompleks Tenis Jalan Duta. The winners took home a prize purse of up to RM30,000, Malaysian ranking points and eligibility to participate in the upcoming BMW Malaysian National Circuit Masters.

    The champion of the Men’s Singles, Muhammad Ashaari Zainal faced Ariez Elyaas in a heated game and saw off his opponent with a score of 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.

    “This is the fifth time playing against Ariez and he always puts up a tough match. I am really happy with my game today as this is my first time winning against Ariez”, said Muhammad Ashaari Zainal.

    “I was not confident with my game in the first set because this is my first time playing against Tran Thi Tam Hao but I managed to make a comeback in the second set”, said Jawairiah Nordin, the women’s singles champion, beating her opponent 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

    The BMW Malaysian National Circuit is a sporting initiative by BMW Group Malaysia and the Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia aimed at nurturing the development of budding tennis players in the country. The tournament is open to both local and international players with128 singles players and 64 doubles teams competing in a knockout competition format.

    “The BMW Malaysian National Circuit program has been running for two consecutive years and in this time span, we have already discovered local tennis star such as Alyssa Boey and Aslina Chua who have both played at the highest levels against international players at the BMW Malaysian Open tennis competition. The BMW Malaysian National Circuit better prepares our local tennis talents for the larger tennis arena as the tournament has also gained popularity among international tennis players in the region who now come to Malaysia to compete with our local players for the prize purse of the tournament. These levels of competition help prepare our players both physically and mentally to raise their game.” said Sashi Ambi, Head of Corporate Communications, BMW Group Malaysia.

    Ambi further added that the successes achieved by the BMW Malaysian National Circuit in developing local tennis talents in country have also led to the establishment of the National Tennis Academy that is a positive step forward for the future of the sport of tennis in the country.

    YBhg Tan Sri Datuk Abdul Razak Latiff, President of the Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM) said, “We have many young talented tennis players in Malaysia that need to be nurtured and developed, in order to produce more world class tennis players that can represent Malaysia in the international sports arena. With the support of BMW Malaysian National Circuit, the sport of tennis in Malaysia has taken a huge step forward, along with the National Tennis Academy that was established this year. Lastly, I would like to congratulate Muhammad Ashaari Zainal and Jawairiah Nordin for thriving in the BMW Malaysian National Circuit 2014 Leg Four (4).”

    The top Malaysian players selected from all legs during the 2014 calendar year of the BMW Malaysian National Circuit will compete against each other in the round-robin Masters competition later this year to determine their selection to the Malaysian National Team for the tournaments in the following year.

    Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 25th June 2014 – Ahmed Deedat Abdul Razak and Choo Lyn Yee took home the Champions title at Leg Three (3) of the BMW Malaysian National Circuit 2014 today. Ahmed Deedat Abdul Razak and Ariez Elyaas Deen Heshaam won the Men’s Doubles title while Choo Lyn Yee and Choo Lyn Yuen won the Women’s Doubles. Winners walked away with a total prize purse of RM30,000, Malaysian ranking points and the eligibility to participate in the BMW Malaysia National Circuit Masters later in the year.

    The winner of Men’s Singles, Ahmed Deedat defeated opponent Ariez Elyaas with an impressive score of 7-6 (1), 6-0. “It was a lot of pressure before the game, as this is my second time in the finals. I did a lot of planning before the game and it has turned out well”, said Ahmed Deedat.

    Mens Single Champion

    Meanwhile, winner of the Women’s Singles Choo Lyn Yee defeated her younger sister, Lyn Yuen with 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-4. “It was a really long match as I was playing against my sister. We try so hard to out-fight each other but we know each other’s game so well and that makes it really challenging”, said Choo Lyn Yee.

    The five (5) day competition took place from the June 21st to June 25th at the Kompleks Tenis Tun Razak, Jalan Duta and was open to both local and international players. The tournament of 128 singles and 64 doubles draw, compete in a knockout competition.

    The BMW Malaysian National Circuit is a program to identify, cultivate and support budding talents to represent Malaysia in the sport of tennis. Like the BMW Malaysian Open, the BMW Malaysian National Circuit is an initiative to develop the country to its full potential in the sport of tennis.

    The sport of Tennis in Malaysia has made tremendous progress with development programs such as the BMW Malaysian National Circuit and since the establishment of the National Tennis Academy earlier this year. The BMW Malaysian National Circuit is not only open to local aspiring stars but also tennis players from other countries which increases the value and relevance of the circuit.

    In Leg Three (3), the tournament saw the participation of tennis enthusiasts from France, Singapore, Indonesia as well as the United States. Malaysia has had tremendous potential in tennis and with the continued development of a national circuit and now a National tennis Academy, Malaysia has taken large steps forward in growing the game in the country.
