two different things. Depending on specs differences, I think racquet change effect my game more than strings. I dont play much different with different strings (provided they're are strung to my right tension) but with racquet change, it will effect my strokes & game a lot more. To me, u must find the right racquet for yourself 1st & then u mess with the strings. But as gear enthusiasts, we will always want to change racquets & strings from time to time just to have a feel & enjoy hitting with various gears. Some will say that we should improve on the game & not constantly changing gear but hey... it's my money, my life, my liking, my interest... I do what I wanna do

nononono.... right stroke is one thing, wrong equipment & frequency of play plus fitness is another. Tennis elbow is not from strokes only. If u use stiff racquets like APDGT plus pro hurricane tour & serve 5 baskets of balls daily plus tennis everyday, I'm pretty sure your elbow will be gone |

How about if you getting old, and having shoulder mild discomfort due to rotator cuff? Would a lighter racquet & or a lower swing weight help? I'd like to hit hard still. Or should i go fo r a heavier racquet to reduce my swing speed?

lighter racquets will never ever be good for arm problems. When u use light racquets, the shock transmission is higher compared to heavy racquets. Heavy racquets are like huge lorries, whenever u see a huge lorry involved in an accident, they normally sustain little damage compared to a poor little kancil. Tennis elbow are caused by shock & not vibration. A lot of people stress on stroke factor in causing tennis elbow, this is not really true... whether u're a tour player or beginner, whenever u hit a ball, shock transmit. With bad strokes & form, it will transmit more depending on the way u hit it but that is only 1 factor. There are other contributing factors like arm fitness, equipment & frequency of play Lighter racquets would make u react faster & swing faster but it will never help with arm problems. Listen to me if u wanna save your arm.... i've been through a lot. |
